Also in the 1950’s a post war occurred involving communism. The war was called Red Scare. 50,000 Americans out of a total U.S. population of 150 million were members of the Communist party. According to Wendy Wall the anti-Communist crusade of the late 1940s and 1950s extended both in time and scope well beyond the activities of the junior senator from Wisconsin. Even though the Great Depression and WWll had just ended the 1950’s were known to be peaceful. But there was still a lot of conflict because of the black listing due to the Red Scare. . U.S. emerged from World War II as the wealthiest and most powerful nation on the planet. There was a limited amount of fabric, thread, and needles. Clothing was made of wool, leather, nylon, and rayon. Poofy Petticoats . (Loose undergarment). Multitude of Pleats . (Multiple folds). Lots of bold patterns and colors.
